GOPHER WIRELESS OPENS IN BRAINERD
BRAINERD, MN, JANUARY 12, 2006:  Gopher Wireless is a new store providing solutions for
businesses and individuals for their cellular, satellite TV and wireless high-speed internet
needs.  Their new location is in the Electric Etc. building at 1014 Laurel Street, Suite 104 in
Downtown Brainerd.  Gopher Wireless handles customers throughout Central Minnesota and
will make visits to businesses to determine the best solution for them.

Gopher Wireless handles T-Mobile and NEXTEL for their cellular providers, and offer phones
by Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and the Blackberries by Research In Motion.  Gopher Wireless
owner Merle Ihne, III says, “The Blackberry handhelds are the most productive device I have
ever used.  It’s not just a cellular phone but, I don’t have to run to the office or home to check
my e-mail anymore.  I have access to all of my customers and their phone numbers,
addresses, e-mails and web pages.  The Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) function is
probably the best thing that has helped me become more organized.  I used to carry a planner
and have all my appointments and to-do lists in there.  But if the planner wasn’t in my hand at
the time I wouldn’t be able to add to it or see what was next.  Since I always have a cell phone
with me, the Blackberry is always at hand.  It will also give me a reminder if a meeting is 30
minutes from now and I have to stop what I am working on and drive across town.  No matter
how great it was, that was something my planner couldn’t do.”

Gopher Wireless carries Dish Network and DirecTV for their satellite TV providers and new
subscribers are installed within a week.  Ihne commented on the new DVR function that both
companies carry.  “I’ll never watch TV the same way again.  If the phone rings or I want to
make some popcorn, I can pause live TV and come back to it when I am ready.  Then I hit
pause again and I haven’t missed a thing.  Then I can catch up by skipping the commercials.
It also automatically records my favorite shows and I’ll watch them when I want to.  The instant
replay has been especially nice during football season.  If I want to see a play again, I just hit
the replay button and I see it.  I can even slow down to help me see if the fumble happened
before the runner was down.”

Gopher Wireless offers a faster internet connection with Clearwire.  You can surf the web at
up to 1.5 Mbps and there are no phones lines.  Plus you can take it with you throughout the
coverage area.  Ihne says, “Not only is this product an affordable high-speed connection to the
internet for families and businesses, but this will be a bonus to people who are traveling
throughout the area and need access to the net.  With a power inverter in their car or truck they
can have a laptop connected to the internet to check e-mail, get quotes or enter sales on-line.
Realtors can look up new homes for sale while they are driving to show buyers a property.”

Joins National Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program

Gopher Wireless has joined a national program called Call2Recycle™ that helps consumers
conveniently recycle their used portable rechargeable batteries and old cell phones.

Gopher Wireless is providing its customers with an easy way to recycle their old cell phones
and used small, dry cell, portable, rechargeable batteries.  Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel
Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion), and Small Sealed Lead* (Pb) are commonly found
in cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, cordless power tools, two-way radios,
camcorders, remote control toys, and a variety of other portable electronic products.

When the battery can no longer hold a charge, it can and should be recycled.  By 2005, roughly
200 million cell phones will be in use in the United States, and approximately 130 million
phones will be retired each year.  The average American cell phone user has a total of 3 or
more cell phones and 5 cordless electronic products in their possession. Consumers can
simply drop off their used rechargeable battery and old cell phone at the Gopher Wireless
store in Downtown Brainerd, and it will be collected for recycling.

Gopher Wireless and other retail stores in the U.S. and Canada are working in cooperation
with the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Cooperation (RBRC), a nonprofit public service
organization that operates the Call2Recycle program. By participating in the program, Gopher
Wireless is helping to conserve the earth’s natural resources and to prevent rechargeable
batteries and cell phones from entering the solid waste stream.

“Retail participation is a crucial part of our program because it puts us in touch with
consumers,” says Norman England, RBRC President. “Retailers such as Gopher Wireless
are making rechargeable battery and cell phone recycling a reality, and that’s great for the
environment.”

The batteries and cell phones Gopher Wireless collects are processed at a recycling facility
and useful materials can be reclaimed to make stainless steel products and new
rechargeable batteries.  Cell phones are recycled or refurbished and resold when possible,
with a portion of the proceeds benefiting select charities.  Phones that cannot be refurbished
are recycled in a sound manner.  All rechargeable batteries from the collected cell phones are
consolidated and sent to the reclamation facility for recycling.
